She started off teaching as a Drama facilitator of Youth Theatre in the UK, travelling with theatre companies around Europe and Northern Ireland as an actor. Tracey has also worked in TV for the BBC and Channel 4. She has worked as a director for The Youth Theatre and Shakespeare Studies, directing many of the classics. Tracey has also worked at University theatre in Chicago Illinois USA acting and co-directing devised pieces with the drama students. After graduating from Monash University where she completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts, Tracey moved back to the UK where she continued to perform in many theatrical performances. We are pleased to welcome Tracey to the team. “The objective of these classes is to have an understanding of realism in drama based on drama theory and putting into practice action, objective and given circumstances. We are looking at how real life can be interpreted through the interaction of thought process, sensation of feelings and emotion and realistic gesture. We look at how an actor can obtain these skills and how they can convey this through acting and interacting with others. The exercises are extremely basic and uncomplicated. The intricacy of the human condition will be analysed, how we see ourselves and how we interact with other humans on a day to day basis. These observations can then be analysed as a group and used as experimentation in performance practice. The more basic and uncomplicated, the easier it is to obtain the skills to take the risk of mastering and practising more complex roles and scenarios.” Tracy Shields Anderson Classes are held weekly in St Kilda on Saturdays and tutoring is by appointment.
